Baked potatoes have become a staple in barbecue over time due to its overall versatility. They make the perfect side dish on its own, or you could throw on a few of your favorite toppings to give it a little extra personality. Throw on your favorite meats like competition style brisket or hickory smoked pulled pork, to turn that boring potato into the best potato recipe you’ve ever had!

Here at Dickey’s, we don’t like to gatekeep, instead we want to go ahead and share our easy to follow instructions and tips on how to make a truly one-of-a-kind, Texas-style smoked baker. We are sure that this authentic family recipe will impress your friends, family, and even the most seasoned BBQ aficionado.

Ingredients:

• 6 large russet potatoes. They are the quintessential baked potatoes that take on the smoke well! • 4 Tablespoons olive oil • 4 teaspoons Dickey’s Beef Brisket Rub or salt/pepper for seasoning • Optional toppers: smoked brisket/pulled pork for added protein, butter, sour cream, shredded cheddar, chives, bacon bits

Smoked Baker recipe:

Step 1: Preheat your smoker to 225 degrees F. You can use any hard wood you like for smoking. Step 2: Scrub and dry off water from the potatoes. Pierce each potato with a fork all around. Drizzle with olive oil and season with Beef Brisket Rub or salt and pepper. Step 3: Place the potatoes in the smoker, close the lid, and smoke for around 2 hours or until the potatoes have softened and pierce easily with a metal fork. Step 4: Enjoy with your favorite toppings – now your giant baker is ready to be served!
