Click here to watch Dickey’s Barbecue Pit CEO Laura Rea Dickey speak on the supply chain crisis, food shortages, and the labor shortages being faced in the food service industry. A couple of ways that Dickey’s Barbecue Pit was able to combat the food supply shortage was to refocus some menu items and bring production for some in house. Because of the large menu available, Dickey’s Barbecue, was able to refocus promotions toward items that could absorb the effects of the shortage. In addition, for example, the BBQ company brought sausage production in-house to relieve the negative effects of that shortage seen nation-wide. There has been a supply shortage on everything from the production level to the products themselves. From printer ink for receipt printers, to gloves, to the actual food items, the ripple effect of the supply chain and labor shortage has been felt and fought off by Dickey’s Barbecue, celebrating its 80th year in business.
