Dickey’s Barbecue Pit: Smoked Turkey & Green Beans
1.5 lbs turkey breast.
Hickory wood chips
1lb fresh green beans
½ lb bacon, diced
1 small yellow onion or ½ large yellow onion, diced
½ cup chicken broth
Salt & Pepper to taste
Smoke turkey breast with hickory wood at 275 degrees for 90 minutes, until internal temperature is 145 degrees. Slice and serve to order.
In a large sauté pan on cook bacon on medium heat. When bacon is half way cooked, add diced onion. Once bacon is golden brown and onion is translucent, add cleaned green beans and chicken broth and mix all ingredients together with tongs. Cover sauté pan and reduce temperature to simmer. Simmer on low until green beans are steamed at desired doneness. Al dente to soft, it is up to you. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
