Original Pit Master
Mr. Roland Dickey is son of Travis Dickey, the founder of Dickey’s Barbecue Pit. Roland was a senior at SMU planning a career in law, when he stepped in to run the family restaurant in 1967 upon his father's passing. Along with his brother T.D. Dickey, Roland took the single Barbecue stand and expanded throughout the Dallas Fort Worth area. Roland developed many of Dickey's recipes, started the legendary catering program and sold the first franchise in 1994, to the Smith's who are still franchisees today. In 1999, he asked his son Roland Dickey Jr., to leave his restaurant role outside the company and join the family business; he passed the head pit-master title to his son in 2006 who took his place as CEO. Roland Sr. published his cook book, Mr. Dickey's Barbecue Cookbook Tales of a Texas Pit-master in 2012. Now, Mr. Dickey travels the country, visiting owner/operators and hosting appreciation events, making special appearances on local radio and television shows and ensuring our guests enjoy their low and slow-smoked, Texas style barbecue.s
Roland Dickey, Jr.
CEO, Dickey’s Capital Group
Roland Dickey, Jr. is the Chief Executive Officer of Dickey’s Capital Group, the parent company of the Dickey’ Barbecue Pit brand. Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is a Dallas-based, third-generation family run business that Dickey has been at the helm of for the past 10 years. In Dickey’s leadership of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. he brought the company from 20 locations to more than 600 across the nation.
Dickey prides himself on taking his family’s business to new heights by leading its evolution from a local barbecue joint to the wildly successful fast-casual chain it is today. By capitalizing on franchising opportunities, Dickey’s has seen exponential growth and has earned the title of the nation’s largest barbecue chain. Though Dickey’s growth nationwide has rapidly expanded, the brand still prides itself on authentic, slow-smoked, Texas-style barbecue, served with a signature side of southern hospitality.
Laura Rea Dickey
Chief Executive Officer
Laura Rea Dickey currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. Dickey served as the Chief Information Officer for eight years, and made the transition to CEO after excelling in her previous role. Dickey has worked in the marketing and information technology field for over 15 years, and has led the marketing, IT and training departments at Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. during her time there.
After graduating from Texas Christian University in 2001, Dickey went on to work at agencies such as Murray Brown Creative Group, The Richards Group and The Point Group. Through her years of agency experience, Dickey worked with brands such as W Hotels, American Heart Association, Blue Mesa, La Madeline and Chick-Fil-A. Dickey’s specialty is the intersection of technology and marketing, turning data insights into brand and business solutions.
Chief Administration Officer
Renee Roozen currently holds the position of Chief Administration Officer of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. Roozen has been with the Dickey’s family for over three years and after excelling in her previous role as Vice President of Operations, she was quickly promoted to President. Roozen has been in the restaurant industry her whole life and is thrilled to have this new opportunity at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit.
While attending the University of Minnesota, Roozen worked with American Blue Ribbon Holdings where she began as a server and worked her way up to the Department Head of Training and Operation Services after graduating and moving from Minnesota to Colorado. Most recently before Dickey’s, Roozen held the title of Vice President of Operations and Training at Famous Brands International.
Chief Marketing Officer
Tony McMaster currently serves as the Chief Marketing Officer for Dickey’s Barbecue Pit. He joined the Dickey’s family in 2017 with more than 20 years of marketing and franchisee experience. As CMO, McMaster has leveraged Dickey’s Barbecue Pit as the largest barbecue franchise focused on the authenticity of the Legit. Texas. Barbecue. that is sold to communities across the world. Before working at Dickey’s, McMaster held the position of Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald’s in Australia and was a multi-unit McDonald’s franchisee. McMaster has worked with other brands including Network Ten, Village Roadshow Theme Parks and most recently Magic Memories.
Senior Vice President of Franchise Administration
Jeff Gruber serves as Senior Vice President of Franchise Administration, managing all internal and external communication for the nation’s largest barbecue franchise, Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc.
Under his leadership, Gruber implemented the Quality & Compliance program which oversees standards for nearly 600 Dickey’s Barbecue Pit locations. Gruber began his career with Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. in 2008 in the Marketing department and was quickly promoted to the Director of Marketing in 2009.
Prior to joining Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc., Gruber worked as an attorney for multiple firms in Dallas including Byrne Cardenas & Aris, LLP and Goldstein & Scopellite, PC. Gruber earned a bachelor’s degree in communication arts from Spring Hill College and holds a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law.
Senior Vice President of Development
Trinity Hall serves as Senior Vice President of Development for Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. She leads the charge to design and build new Dickey’s Barbecue Pit locations across the country. She began her career at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in 2012 as an equipment specialist negotiating contract and sourcing equipment for new locations.
She created the equipment department from the ground up and implemented a fast-paced environment that has been integral to the growth of the company. Hall was also instrumental in the interior design update and design of Dickey’s signature location at Love Field in 2013. Most recently, Hall served as Director of Design, Equipment and Finance for Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants.
In her tenure, she has managed the opening of over 500 Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants across the country.
