Laura Rea Dickey
Chief Executive Officer
Laura Rea Dickey currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. Dickey served as the Chief Information Officer for eight years, and made the transition to CEO after excelling in her previous role. Dickey has worked in the marketing and information technology field for over 15 years, and has led the marketing, IT and training departments at Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. during her time there.
After graduating from Texas Christian University in 2001, Dickey went on to work at agencies such as Murray Brown Creative Group, The Richards Group and The Point Group. Through her years of agency experience, Dickey worked with brands such as W Hotels, American Heart Association, Blue Mesa, La Madeline and Chick-Fil-A. Dickey’s specialty is the intersection of technology and marketing, turning data insights into brand and business solutions.
Senior Vice President of Franchise Administration
Jeff Gruber serves as Senior Vice President of Franchise Administration, managing all internal and external communication for the nation’s largest barbecue franchise, Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc.
Under his leadership, Gruber implemented the Quality & Compliance program which oversees standards for nearly 600 Dickey’s Barbecue Pit locations. Gruber began his career with Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. in 2008 in the Marketing department and was quickly promoted to the Director of Marketing in 2009.
Prior to joining Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc., Gruber worked as an attorney for multiple firms in Dallas including Byrne Cardenas & Aris, LLP and Goldstein & Scopellite, PC. Gruber earned a bachelor’s degree in communication arts from Spring Hill College and holds a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law.
Senior Vice President of Development
Trinity Hall serves as Senior Vice President of Development for Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. She leads the charge to design and build new Dickey’s Barbecue Pit locations across the country. She began her career at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in 2012 as an equipment specialist negotiating contract and sourcing equipment for new locations.
She created the equipment department from the ground up and implemented a fast-paced environment that has been integral to the growth of the company. Hall was also instrumental in the interior design update and design of Dickey’s signature location at Love Field in 2013. Most recently, Hall served as Director of Design, Equipment and Finance for Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants.
In her tenure, she has managed the opening of over 500 Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants across the country.
Vice President of Direct Sales and Catering
Since she started at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in 2010, Michelle Matthews has led the company’s efforts in catering and sales. In her role as Vice President of Direct Sales & Catering, Matthews created Dickey’s catering hotline, which fields up to 2,500 calls and 6,000 online leads per week. The catering hotline has been responsible for increasing catering sales system-wide by 25 percent. Currently her team accounts for up to $1.3 million per month because of the systems that Matthews put into place.
After graduating from University of Louisville with a degree in marketing, Matthews worked in B2B sales representing Fortune 500 companies until joining Dickey’s. In her former role she was regularly ranked in the top 10 for sales in the nation and won a Top Leader award. She is also a decorated field hockey player, having played at the D1 level for Ball State.

Renee Roozen currently holds the position of President of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. Roozen has been with the Dickey’s family for over two years and after excelling in her previous role as Vice President of Operations, she was quickly promoted to President. Roozen has been in the restaurant industry her whole life and is thrilled to have this new opportunity at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit.
While attending the University of Minnesota, Roozen worked with American Blue Ribbon Holdings where she began as a server and worked her way up to the Department Head of Training and Operation Services after graduating and moving from Minnesota to Colorado. Most recently before Dickey’s, Roozen held the title of Vice President of Operations and Training at Famous Brands International.
Roland Dickey, Jr.
CEO, Dickey’s Capital Group
Roland Dickey, Jr. is the Chief Executive Officer of Dickey’s Capital Group, the parent company of the Dickey’ Barbecue Pit brand. Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is a Dallas-based, third-generation family run business that Dickey has been at the helm of for the past 10 years. In Dickey’s leadership of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. he brought the company from 20 locations to more than 600 across the nation.
Dickey prides himself on taking his family’s business to new heights by leading its evolution from a local barbecue joint to the wildly successful fast-casual chain it is today. By capitalizing on franchising opportunities, Dickey’s has seen exponential growth and has earned the title of the nation’s largest barbecue chain. Though Dickey’s growth nationwide has rapidly expanded, the brand still prides itself on authentic, slow-smoked, Texas-style barbecue, served with a signature side of southern hospitality.

Paula Suarez, Vice President of IT and Development
Paula Suarez is Vice President of Information Technology and Development for Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurant, Inc. Suarez leads the company-wide implementation of technology projects and oversees in-house software development efforts. Her focus is on streamlining business processes using advanced technology options.
Prior to joining Dickey’s Barbecue in 2011, Suarez served as Division Business Systems Analyst for RealPage, a software development company for major property management companies. Suarez’s experience also includes over a decade working within the area of business systems analysis, software development and technical training.
Past career achievements include the development and launching of the first military housing technical training program for Lincoln Military Housing. Suarez holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Southern Methodist University, as well as a technical degree in computer information systems-software development.
Jermaine Martin, Head of Information Technology Support
As Head of Information Technology Support at Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc., Jermaine Martin has overseen infrastructure upgrades and maintenance as the barbecue chain doubled in size. He successfully rolled out new software and hardware across more than 560 stores while creating and implementing processes to streamline IT services in all facets of operations, from the corporate offices to field employees and individual Dickey’s locations. He has served the barbecue brand in many functions, including network security administrator, systems administrator and project manager.
Prior to Dickey’s, Jermaine held roles in software development and tech support focused on retail and client-facing accounts.

Chief Administrative Officer
Michelle Frazier joined the Dickey’s family in 2002 and now holds the title as the longest non-family member serving the Dickey’s team. In her years at Dickey’s, Frazier has risen through the ranks and now serves as Chief Administrative Officer to the fastest growing fast casual restaurant chain in the country.
In her role, Frazier oversees all human resource development, recruitment, and accounting. Frazier began her career with Dickey’s as an accounting bookkeeper and was promoted to Director of Accounting and Human Resources.
Frazier rose to Vice President of Accounting and Human Resources before being elevated to Chief Administrative Officer. In previous roles, Frazier also oversaw the Dickey’s legal and IT department.
Frazier’s years of dedication have been instrumental in identifying top industry talent to support in the company’s growth and in the development of programs across all departments of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc.
Original Pit Master
Mr. Roland Dickey is son of Travis Dickey, the founder of Dickey’s Barbecue Pit. Roland was a senior at SMU planning a career in law, when he stepped in to run the family restaurant in 1967 upon his father's passing. Along with his brother T.D. Dickey, Roland took the single Barbecue stand and expanded throughout the Dallas Fort Worth area. Roland developed many of Dickey's recipes, started the legendary catering program and sold the first franchise in 1994, to the Smith's who are still franchisees today. In 1999, he asked his son Roland Dickey Jr., to leave his restaurant role outside the company and join the family business; he passed the head pit-master title to his son in 2006 who took his place as CEO. Roland Sr. published his cook book, Mr. Dickey's Barbecue Cookbook Tales of a Texas Pit-master in 2012. Now, Mr. Dickey travels the country, visiting owner/operators and hosting appreciation events, making special appearances on local radio and television shows and ensuring our guests enjoy their low and slow-smoked, Texas style barbecue.s
Barbecue Boots & Badges
As a way to give back to the communities in which they do business, Dickey's established a charitable organization in 2015, Barbecue, Boots and Badges. This foundation seeks to provide support to law enforcement, firefighters, and their families in times of illness and injury. Dickey's has a long-standing tradition of community involvement and runs by the mantra, "as a business you should do both well and good."
Maurine Dickey, Founder of Barbecue, Boots & Badges
Maurine Dickey is the Founder of Barbecue, Boots & Badges. Commissioner Maurine Dickey served two terms as a Dallas County Commissioner from 2005 to 2013. Prior to her election to the Dallas County Commissioners Court, Maurine served as the Chairman of the Parkland Hospital Board of Managers, and was the only County Commissioner to have ever served on the Parkland Board. Maurine also served on Governor Bush’s Taskforce on Adoption in 1996. She has been married to Mr. Roland Dickey Sr. for 50 years, and her son is Roland Dickey Jr., CEO of Dickey’s Capital Group.
Nathan Wheeler, Director of Research and Development Dickey's Barbecue Pit
Executive Director Barbecue Boots & Badges
Nathan has worked in a variety of roles at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit for more than 5 years. He’s worked closely with our Owner Operators first as a Franchise Director and then as the Director of New Store Opening and New Store Construction. Nathan now serves as the Director of Research and Development. In 2015 Nathan was honored with a request to manage the philanthropic arm of Dickey's, "Barbecue, Boots & Badges". Nathan also has a long record of service, previously as a Cryptologic Technician Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist Petty Officer Second Class in the Navy from September 2001 to November 2005.
