The Dothan Police Foundation and Dickey’s Barbecue have teamed up to help not only raise funds for the police foundation, but to also bring the people of the community together.

Saturday from 9 a.m to 2 p.m., people wishing to make a difference in their community can do while enjoying barbecue at Dickey’s on West Main Street.

“I want to thank Dickey’s for hosting this event,” said Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish. “Greg Smith, owner of Dickey’s, will be selling racks of ribs at Dickey’s, and a portion of each ticket purchased goes to the Dothan Police Foundation. This is a great way for the community to come together, eat, and just enjoy a fun-filled event.”

Tickets are on sale now for $25.

“We do encourage everyone if at all possible to buy your tickets early,” Parrish said. “They are going fast, but we do have some still available. Tickets can be purchased Saturday, if ribs are still available.”

The Boots and Badge event is sponsored by the Dickey’s Corporation as a way for the community to support their local first responders, Smith said.

“This event is something Dickey’s Corporation does on a regular basis,” Smith said. “However, one day Chief Parrish was dining with us and he saw posters promoting the event. We began to discuss, it and in no time the event was planned. We are also working with the Dothan Fire Department regarding hosting this event to benefit them as well. Dickey’s is a proud supporter of law enforcement and fire departments, and this is just one of the ways we like to help out in our community. Also during this event we have several other businesses located in the same shopping area participating by offering giveaways. We believe this will also draw attention to what this area has to offer. Harley Davidson of Dothan will also be here sponsoring the event. It is really just going to be a great day.”

Parrish stated the funds raised during this event will go toward officer training, education, and helping with the care and maintenance for the animals at the Dothan Animal Shelter.

Tickets can be purchased at the Dothan Police Department and the day of the event, as long as ribs are available.
