Dickey’s BBQ Fest Brings Dallas Together for First Responders

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, Dallas’ original barbecue destination, is firing up the smokers and bringing the heat this summer with its inaugural BBQ Fest, a celebration of smoke, flavor and community taking place on National Brisket Day, Thursday, May 28, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Original Dickey’s location near Knox Henderson.

The record-holder for the longest standing, continuously operating restaurant in Dallas will serve as the backdrop for this one-of-a-kind event as Dickey’s simultaneously celebrates 85 years of serving the metroplex their slow-smoked barbecue. A $10 entry ticket is available for pre-purchase or at the door which secures party patrons access that includes a voucher for a Rancher's Premium Sausage Sandwich and a Big Yellow Cup. In addition, raffle tickets will also be available for purchase inside where guests can score an array of prizes including a 50-inch smart TV, free barbecue for a year, a premium backyard grill, and two tickets to the Dickey Foundation’s annual Denim & Diamonds Gala will all be up for grabs. 

Texans can dance the afternoon away, enjoy free samples courtesy of event sponsor Rancher’s Premium Smokehouse, soak up the summer rays and enjoy live music throughout the event before the excitement heats up at 4 p.m., when members of the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department and the Dallas Police Department go head-to-head in a friendly barbecue eating competition packed with hometown pride, bragging rights and plenty of Legit. Proceeds from the event will all benefit The Dickey Foundation, which has raised and donated more than one million dollars for first responders across the U.S. by providing essential safety equipment, protective armor, rescue gear, and other necessary resources to protect and serve those who protect and serve.
