Beat the Heat with Dickey’s Free Soft Serve

There’s nothing wrong with admitting you’re obsessed with Dickey’s
fall-off-the-bone Pork Ribs--we certainly are!

 There are many great recipes you can make with Dickey’s Ribs. Feed your obsession with this Dickey’s Ribs with Fettuccine.


 First buy a full rack of ribs from Dickey’s either in-store or online at Dickeys.com. Then bring it home and begin this quick and simple recipe.



 Dickey’s Pork Ribs (full rack)


 1 Tbsp Olive Oil


 1 box of fettuccine


 1 can of diced tomatoes


 2 tsp. of diced garlic


 ½ chopped onion


 Salt and pepper


 Heat a pan with olive oil to a medium temperature and then throw in some chopped onions and garlic. Stir them around and cook it for a minute. Then crack open a can of diced tomatoes. Pour it over
 the onions and garlic. Next, add a pinch of salt and pepper and then stir altogether. Now here’s the fun part, get your Dickey’s Ribs and prepare to get a little messy. Start pulling the meat off
 the bone and placing carefully in the pan (caution: the pan will be hot). While your pan of sauce and meat is simmering, cook your fettuccine. Place the cooked pasta onto a large platter, then
 spoon the sauce and rib meat over the top and voila dinner is served and you get Dickey’s ribs in a fun new way!

We all know Dickey’s offers mouthwatering barbecue that satisfies
any hardcore carnivore, but did you know that Dickey’s now also makes all of their bread too?

 Bread is one of the oldest known recipes to man. It has been around for several millennia—approximately 12,000!


 Bread started off as what we would call a flatbread, similar to that of a tortilla. It was simply ground grains and water mashed together and then baked. It is believed that the cultivation of
 wheat and other grains was one the driving forces in the transition from nomadic people to domesticated, stationary people.  This led to bread becoming a staple in human diets.


 In September, Dickey’s across the country will be rolling out this new homemade recipe for all their rolls, buns and hoagie rolls. The new artisanal bread is an original recipe designed by Dickey’s
 Chef Jeff Forrester.


 “Our customers have always loved our rolls – they have a touch of sweetness that complements our barbecue perfectly,” said Forrester. “Now, all of our buns and hoagie rolls will have that same
 southern fresh bread recipe that I know our customers are going to love.”

dwelling ancestors based their diets on what they could hunt and gather.  I’m sure if there was a Dickey’s Barbecue 10,000 years ago, it would’ve been a pre-Neolithic paradise.

Be a Caveman at Dickey’s

Ribs are the backbone to the barbecue business and <a href="http://nrn.com/us-second-100/2013-second-100-limited-servicespecialty">Dickey’s</a> understands that the perfect ribs are not necessarily a science, but an art form.How do we get perfect, mouthwatering fall-off-the-bone ribs? That’s the secret I’m sharing today.Dickey’s always starts with a great rib rub, like Dickey’s Signature Rib Rub which includes ground cumin, salt, garlic a sugar and maybe a few secret ingredients. After slathering the ribs with the rub, we place the ribs in the smoker bone-side down. This allows the smoke to channel under the ribs and achieve an overall smoky, savory flavor.We smoke our succulent ribs at a temperature between 270 and 295 degrees F and we smoke them for 3 to 3 ½ hours.To check the doneness, we perform the “break test” by grabbing the rib rack with a pair of tongs making sure they immediately break. This means they are perfect. Big Yellow Cup Road Trip: Happy First Day of Summer from Dickey's

Travis Dickey probably didn’t expect online ordering to be so popular when he opened the first Dickey’s in 1941. &nbsp;In fact, online probably had a completely different meaning way back then. &nbsp;But, he would be so proud to see Dickey’s staying at the forefront of new technologies and especially store number one, where he started it all.
&nbsp;In June, the very first Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, which is still owned and operated by the Dickey family, went live with online ordering. &nbsp;The barbecue joint that started a national craze now offers customers a quick option for picking up their barbecue fix. &nbsp;The program is rolling out nationwide.
“Online ordering is just another way for all of our restaurants to provide great customer service,” said Roland Dickey, Jr. president of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. “Time is a valuable commodity and we want to make sure our customers have a great experience in a timely manner when they visit us – online ordering alleviates waiting times.”
The new system simplifies the ordering process by allowing customers to place a pick-up order directly online. In addition, a group ordering feature allows customers to place multi-item orders under a single name, invite friends via email to add to the order and manage the process online. &nbsp;Account information can be saved for the next time customers order by creating a secure account.
Everything old is new again!

The Hippest 72-Year-Old on the Block

There is nothing better in the Summer than kickin’ back at the pool catching some rays. I’m not much of a swimmer—more of a lounger. I prefer to float above the surface checking out the action. Also, I’m pretty sure if I jumped in I would capsize. Oh there I go again, not looking on the bright side. My friends always say that I look at the glass half empty when I should be looking at it half full. I’m think half full of Miss Ollie’s Sweet Tea sounds pretty tasty on a hot day. Big Yellow Cup Road Trip: Poolside

Back in the 1970s,
Roland Dickey attended all catering jobs for Dickey’s Barbecue. He knew that catering would be Dickey’s secret weapon in becoming the biggest and best barbecue franchise in the country.

 In 1976, Dickey’s was asked to cater a Texas Barbecue for a presidential candidate. As it turned out, that candidate was former governor of California, Ronald Reagan. The barbecue brought together
 Texas’ most successful oilmen and businessmen for a meet and greet for Reagan.


 Roland Dickey recalls it being an unforgettable experience. “Every person in the room wanted to meet Reagan,” said Dickey. “He seemed to captivate a room that typically would’ve been hard to
 control.”


 Reagan even insisted on greeting all of Dickey’s employees and being introduced to each and every one of them. Politicians usually don’t agree on much, but barbecue seems to be one thing that all
 can enjoy.

While it’s true that you never know what kids will say, we think dads actually corner the market on crazy quips.
Dickey’s is asking Twitter fans to tweet @Dickeys the funny things their Dads say and hash tag it with #StuffDadSays.
Dickey’s will choose the best quote and that customer will win a Father’s Day gift bundle that will include Mr. Dickey’s Barbecue Cookbook, a "Rock the Block" apron, Dickey’s t-shirt, Dickey’s signature rib rub and Dickey’s original barbecue sauce.

Dickey’s Launches Father’s Day Contest #StuffDadSays

Los Angeles, California is not exactly the first place that comes to mind when you think about barbecue. But, Dickey’s Barbecue plans to change all that. The fastest growing barbecue concept in the country is expanding in the LA area and decided it was time to introduce the area to our very own Mr. Dickey.Mr. Dickey donned his signature red apron and fedora while hanging out on the Today in LA set with Todd Schwartz, franchise owner of the Dickey’s in Northridge.With his trademark humor, Mr. Dickey dished with the host on how to make the best rib rub, turning a grill in to a smoker and his colorful take on barbecue and entertaining.We left the crew full and begging for more.
