Dickey’s Barbecue Pit Opens Six New Locations in March

##### World’s largest barbecue concept’s compilation of recipes, cocktails, and tall tales has been named a finalist in the 34th annual IBPA Benjamin Franklin Award program

DALLAS (Apr. 12, 2022) – Published by Southwestern Publishing House, Inc., Dickey’s Barbecue Pit’s “Behind the BBQ: Recipes, Cocktails & Tall Tales” by Roland Dickey Sr., Roland Dickey Jr., Laura Rea Dickey with Jerry Murray and Chef Phil Butler has been recognized as a finalist in the 34th annual IBPA Benjamin Franklin Award program in the cookbook category. 

The 81-year-old Dallas-based, family-run barbecue franchise will receive either a gold or silver award during the ceremony for this prestigious award on April 29. The complete list of cookbook finalists can be found on the website at this link.

This announcement comes on the heels of Dickey’s recent agreement to open its first Canada location in Alberta. Toronto’s first Dickey’s is slated to open this summer, bringing Texas Style BBQ further across the northern border. 

Anand Desai, a 15-year veteran in the governance, risk and control space, was driven towards the restaurant business by his passion to serve the members of his local community. Anand is joined by his partner, Sharmistha Ghosh, who brings a plethora of experience managing and running a successful restaurant in Toronto. Currently, Sharmistha works for a local brand in the city, where she is responsible for day-to-day operations and serves as a franchise coordinator. The duo credits their decision to partner with Dickey’s to the tremendous support system offered during the initial phases of franchise operations along with the brand’s proven success with international franchising.

## World’s largest barbecue concept donates $7,500 grant for tactical robot to better protect local first-responders from high-risk situations

NEWARK, Ohio (March 21, 2022) – [The Dickey Foundation](https://www.thedickeyfoundation.org/) – the charitable arm of [Dickey’s Barbecue Pit](https://www.dickeys.com/) – is dedicated to being an active member of the communities it serves. 

On Wednesday, March 23 at 11:30 a.m. at Newark Police Headquarters (39 S. Fourth St., Newark, Ohio 43055), The Dickey Foundation will present a grant of $7,500 to help the Newark Police Department obtain a tactical robot that will keep its first responders safe during high-risk situations such as hostage rescues, armed and barricaded subjects, suspicious items and more.

In 2021, more than 70% of the Newark Police Department’s callouts involved a barricade or wanted person. With this new technology, the department will be able to safely communicate with individuals and transport mission-critical equipment.

The Dickey Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, awards grants to provide first responders with critical personal protective equipment (PPE), safety gear and equipment they need to help make their job easier and, more importantly, safer.

## World’s largest barbecue concept launches newest core menu item statewide, including three locations in Wyoming

DALLAS (Feb. 2, 2022) – After 80 years and three generations of passing down the Art of Great Barbecue, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is once again elevating its core menu by offering crispier and even more flavorful hand-cut fries as part of the company’s phased, system wide rollout in 2022. 

Beginning January 12, customers across Colorado can visit any [Dickey’s Barbecue Pit](https://www.dickeys.com/) and snag the newest core menu item when they want to satisfy their Texas-style barbecue craving. Hand-cut fries are also now available at three Dickey’s locations in Wyoming (1400 Dell Range Blvd., Ste 085A, Cheyenne, WY; 2410 Grand Ave., Laramie, WY; 804 E. 2nd St., Gillette, WY).

Trust us, these aren’t your regular French fries. Dickey’s takes it up a notch, as the fries are cut fresh in store each day – making them even more flavorful than just your average manufactured product. You’ll never search for “French fries near me” again after you try these. As part of the phased, system-wide rollout, the brand is also introducing new paper fry bags instead of plastic. The new paper bag absorbs moisture, keeping fries piping HOT to enjoy whether you are eating in the restaurant or on the-go.
